First Entry in my New Old Blog

What happened in my life since my last entryin 2006 shortly before the Football WM in Germany:

- Germany lost against Italy in the half final, but at last won the third place! :)
- after that I was sitting in the incredible heat and writing up my diploma thesis
- finally I handed in my thesis in October 2006
- did some cloning in Brinüs Lab of Genetics
- then I moved to Sweden in March 2007 and since then I live together with my boyfriend Tomas (or 'der Ritter der Kokosnuss')
- got a PhD position at the Department of Forest Mycology and Pathology in August 2007
- since then I became a pretty nerd on Boreal Forest Ecology, Ectomycorrhiza and their extracellular Enzymes.
- in August 2008 my boyfriend and me got our crazy, hyper active but always adorable Golden Retriever Lukas (you can read about Lukas in his own blog)

Time flies like an arrow and fruit flies like a banana!
Now, half of my PhD education is nearly over and I am short before my half time seminar. To tell the truth, I am pretty nervous about the seminar. So, I just hope everything will turn out well and my last two planned projects will give some pleasant results!!
So, my intentions with this blog are to keep my dear friends and family updated about whats going on in my life and I would like to be a bit creative on the web. So I will both publish usual update posts aswell as some more fun/crazy ones that you are very welcome to comment as much as you like!
I will mostly keep the language of this blog in english, since I would like both my swedish and my german friends and family to be able to read what I write. But please dont mind if I from time to time fill in some german or swedish. Some insider things you just can't translate!

Hej folks!

After a creative break of a few years I am now back on my dear blog to talk about this or that and hopefully being able to philosophy about coffee consume with Brinülein! :), maybe discuss some ectomycorrhiza or retarded degradation in the boreal forest or elsewhere. ;) And all other topics that make the world go round.

WM 2006

Living in Germany with the football wm coming up is quite exciting. On the other hand I am just deep in my diploma thesis and trying hard to manage it. So it also seems a bit ridiculous to see what kind of hype there is everywhere around the wm. Especially when you have a look in the shops what they all sell.
So I put up a list of all strange things to buy I saw untill now:

- wm wool
- flagpole to raise any flag of teams joining
- wm icecream
- wm magnetic kitchen board (notice board)
- Fan Block chocolate of "Ritter Sport"
- Nutella glass designed as a football
- Football styled cookies
- wm coffee cups
- air filled football armchair
- air filled football costume
- wm kitchen clock
- wm fan-tooth paste
- wm voodoo-set to get negative influence on the adverse team
- wm car air fresh (WM-Duftbäumchen fürs Auto)
- wm liquorice

Frühling in Marburg och filmen jag såg sist

Ja! Endlich ist er da! Der Frühling! Erst wollte er gar nicht kommen, und dann eines Tages als ich nur zum schwedischen Filmabend wollte, war die Luft schon richtig warm. Also, alles fing an, mit dem schwedischen Filmabend als wir uns mit dem Schwedisch-Kurs spontan "Grabben i Graven bredvid" (Der Typ vom Grab nebenan) angesehen haben.

Ein Bauerntrampel, der sich in eine schnicksige Stadt-Tussie verliebt... Na, das kann ja nicht gut gehen...! Nicht? Naja, wer weiß. Auf jedenfall ein lustiger aufheiternder Film, der mir wieder den Kick gegeben hat, mich durch den Alltag meiner Diplomarbeit zu kämpfen. Die schwedischen Schlager, altbekannt durch diverse "Patricia" Besuche haben letztendlich auch den letzten Rest Winterschlaf aus mir vertrieben! Sommartider hej hej! Jaja, und sobald wir vom Film gucken wieder rauskamen, fingen die Bäume an grün zu werden! auf einmal! Ging ratzi fatzi! Herrlich!! Also, genießt den Frühling/Sommer und packt endlich den Grill aus! Aber vorsicht, wenn ihr euch in einen Bauern, oder eine Stadt-Tussie verliebt!

Ritter der Kokosnuss, Blasenentzündung, Allimania und PCR Voodoo

Juten Tach!
ist ja lange her, dass ich hier mal was Ordentliches geschrieben habe! Aber jetzt, da ich mit einer Blasenentzündung im Bett liege, hab ich ja alle Zeit der Welt, denn die 12. Folge von Allimania hab ich jetzt auch schon durch, und da wird´s mir langweilig. Und den Ritter der Kokosnuss aus dem hohen Norden vermisse ich sowieso. Wenigstens war ich heute morgen noch in der Uni, und hab ein PCR Kontroll Gel gemacht, und siehe da: Auf einmal klappt`s! Wer hätte das gedacht? Ich sag´s ja immer wieder: PCR ist reiner Voodoo! Mach das bloß nicht bei abnehmendem Mond!!! Also, lieber Mond: Nimm bitte niemals ab, damit meine PCR immer klappt! Naja, drückt mir die Daumen, damit´s auch weiterhin klappt!

Det är länge sen jag skrev något här och nu då jag ligger här i sängen med en urinvägsinfektion har jag ju tillräcklig med tid. Just lyssnade på det 12. Allimania avsnittet och vet inget annat att göra. Den kokosnötts riddaren ifrån norden saknar jag också. Men tack för din inlägg i gästboken Tomi! (-; Puss på dig! Så du ser det finns lite mer svenska här... hihi
Var åtminstone i labbet på förmiddagen och fixade en PCR-kontroll och plötsligt funkar det! Där ser man! Som jag alltid har sagt: PCR är rent voodoo och funkar bara vid fullmåne, men några i labbet vill ju inte tro på mig! (-; Så varsågod håll tummarna för mig så att det fortsätta funka!

Eine Ode an den Würfel! Hail to the dice!

Da isser ja wieder, der kleine Ausreißer! Unterm Regal hat er sich versteckt! Was hat er da bloß verlohren?? Hab ihn jetzt wieder aufgelesen und ins Würfelsäckchen zurück getan!
Schließlich ist er mein bester Attacke-Würfel, ohne den geht wirklich nix!! Kann mir überhaupt mal einer sagen, warum Genies, so wie dieser Würfel immer so schnell nach ihren Glanzleistungen abtrünnig werden müssen? Das war bei Jim Morrison und Curt Cobain auch nicht anders.. schluchz...
